Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The one who takes back a gift he has given is like a dog that vomits and then starts licking it. If the giver of the gift demands the return of what he gave, he should be made to stand and an explanation (for taking the gift back) should be sought from him, then what he had given as a gift should be returned to him."
