Price of dogs, alcohol, and earnings of prostitutes are forbidden; meaning of dice and chess
Hadith 1077
- " ثمن الخمر حرام ومهر البغي حرام وثمن الكلب حرام والكوبة حرام وإن أتاك صاحب الكلب يلتمس ثمنه، فاملأ يديه ترابا، والخمر والميسر وكل مسكر حرام ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The price of alcohol is forbidden, the earnings of a prostitute are forbidden, the price of a dog is forbidden, the drum is forbidden, and if the owner of a dog comes to you to take its price, then fill his hands with dust. Alcohol, gambling, and every intoxicating thing are also forbidden."
