Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us, he said: Ibn Abi Adi and Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, they said: 'Awf ibn Abi Jamilah narrated to us, from Yazid al-Farisi – and he used to write the masahif – he said: I saw the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in a dream during the time of Ibn Abbas. He said: So I said to Ibn Abbas: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in my sleep. Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah used to say: «إِنَّالشَّيْطَانَلَايَسْتَطِيعُأَنْيَتَشَبَّهَبِي،فَمَنْرَآنِيفِيالنَّوْمِفَقَدْرَآنِي», can you describe this man whom you saw in your sleep? He said: Yes, I will describe to you a man between two men, his body and flesh were brown tending to whiteness, with kohl-lined eyes, pleasant in laughter, beautiful in the circles of his face, his beard filled what was between this and this, and it filled his chest – 'Awf said: and I do not know what was with this description – so Ibn Abbas said: If you had seen him while awake, you would not have been able to describe him beyond this. Abu Isa said: "And Yazid al-Farisi is Yazid ibn Hurmuz, and he is earlier than Yazid al-Raqashi, and Yazid al-Farisi narrated from Ibn Abbas ahadith, and Yazid al-Raqashi did not meet Ibn Abbas, and he is Yazid ibn Aban al-Raqashi, and he narrates from Anas ibn Malik, and Yazid al-Farisi and Yazid al-Raqashi are both from the people of Basra, and 'Awf ibn Abi Jamilah is 'Awf al-A'rabi."
