Hadith 378
Nawfal bin Iyas Hadhali, may Allah have mercy on him, says that Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf, may Allah be pleased with him, was our companion, and he was an excellent, righteous companion. One day he took us to his house, he went inside and after performing ghusl (ritual bath), he came out. Then a large bowl was placed before us in which there was bread and meat. When it was placed, Abdur Rahman bin Awf, may Allah be pleased with him, began to weep. I asked: Abu Muhammad! What is it that has caused you to weep? He replied: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away, but neither he nor his family ever ate their fill of barley bread. I think that what we have been left behind for is not for our betterment.
