The Prophet loved pumpkin
Hadith 340
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ، وَعَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا خَيَّاطًا دَعَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَرَّبَ مِنْهُ ثَرِيدًا عَلَيْهِ دُبَّاءُ قَالَ: «فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْخُذُ الدُّبَّاءَ وَكَانَ يُحِبُّ الدُّبَّاءَ» قَالَ ثَابِتٌ: فَسَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ: «فَمَا صُنِعَ لِي طَعَامٌ أَقْدَرُ عَلَى أَنْ يُصْنَعَ فِيهِ دُبَّاءُ إِلَا صُنِعَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that a tailor invited the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and presented tharid to him, in which there was pumpkin. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began to take the pumpkin; he (peace and blessings be upon him) liked pumpkin very much. Thabit al-Banani (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I heard Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) say: Every food whose preparation was within my control, I would certainly add pumpkin to it.
