Acts of humility by the Prophet
Hadith 331
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْأَعْوَرِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعُودُ الْمَرِيضَ، وَيَشْهَدُ الْجَنَائِزَ، وَيَرْكَبُ الْحِمَارَ، وَيُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الْعَبْدِ، وَكَانَ يَوْمَ بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ مَخْطُومٍ بَحَبْلٍ مِنْ لِيفٍ وَعَلَيْهِ إِكَافٌ مِنْ لِيفٍ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to visit the sick, attend funerals, ride on a donkey, and accept the invitation of slaves. On the day of the Battle of Banu Qurayza, he (peace and blessings be upon him) was riding a donkey whose bridle was made of palm fibers and its saddle was also made of palm bark (fibers).
