Reciting the Quran with a pleasant voice
Hadith 318
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مُغَفَّلٍ يَقُولُ: " رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ: {إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا لِيَغْفِرَ لَكَ اللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ} [الفتح: 2] ". قَالَ: «فَقَرَأَ وَرَجَّعَ» قَالَ: وَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ: «لَوْلَا أَنْ يَجْتَمِعَ النَّاسُ عَلَيَّ لَأَخَذْتُ لَكُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ الصَّوْتِ» أَوْ قَالَ: «اللَّحْنِ»
Muawiyah bin Qurrah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) say: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting this while sitting on his mount on the day of the conquest of Makkah: «إنا فتحنا لك فتحا مبينا ٭ ليغفر لك الله ما تقدم من ذنبك وما تأخر». The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was reciting these verses repeatedly. Muawiyah bin Qurrah says: If I were not afraid that people would gather around me, I would recite to you in the same manner, with recitation, proper pronunciation, and beautification.
