Hadith 315
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأُمَوِيُّ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْطَعُ قِرَاءَتَهُ يَقُولُ: {الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ} [الفاتحة: 2] ثُمَّ يَقِفُ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: {الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [الفاتحة: 1] ثُمَّ يَقِفُ، وَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ (مَلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ)
Mother of the Believers, Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite, he would pause at the end of every verse. When he recited «الحمد لله رب العالمين», he would pause. When he recited «الرحمن الرحيم», he would pause, and he would recite «مالك يوم الدين» (Maliki without an alif).
