Specifying a day for worship
Hadith 309
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ، أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخُصُّ مِنَ الْأَيَامِ شَيْئًا؟ قَالَتْ: «كَانَ عَمَلُهُ دِيمَةً، وَأَيُّكُمْ يُطِيقُ مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُطِيقُ»
Imam Alqamah says that I asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) whether the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to specify any particular day for worship. She replied: The practice of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was continuous. Who among you has the strength that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had?
