Haram bin Muawiyah narrates from his uncle Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), who says: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about offering voluntary prayers at home and offering voluntary prayers in the mosque (as to which is superior). So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “You see how close my house is to the mosque, and I prefer to pray in my house rather than in the mosque, except for the obligatory prayer, for which there is a different command.”
