Start tahajjud with two light rak‘ahs
Hadith 267
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَلْيَفْتَتِحْ صَلَاتَهُ بِرَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he narrates from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When any one of you stands for prayer at night, let him begin with two light rak‘ahs."
