Placing right hand under right cheek when sleeping
Hadith 253
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أَخَذَ مَضْجَعَهُ وَضَعَ كَفَّهُ الْيُمْنَى تَحْتَ خَدِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ، وَقَالَ: «رَبِّ قِنِي عَذَابَكَ يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُ عِبَادَكَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ bin ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go to his bed, he would place his right hand under his right cheek and supplicate as follows: «رب قني عذابك يوم تبعث عبادك», “O Allah! Protect me from Your punishment on the Day when You resurrect Your servants.”
Hadith 254
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، مِثْلَهُ وَقَالَ: «يَوْمَ تَجْمَعُ عِبَادَكَ»
Abu Ubaidah narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) a narration similar to the above-mentioned hadith, and in it, instead of «يوم تبعث عبادك», the words are «يوم تجمع عبادك»: "The day You will gather Your servants."
