Hadith 227
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْخَلَّالُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ السَّيْلَحَانِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ: «مَا كَانَ ضَحِكُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا تَبَسُّمًا» قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ لَيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the laughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was only a smile (he did not laugh loudly). Imam Abu Isa (Tirmidhi) says that this hadith is rare among the narrations of Laith bin Sa'd.
