Hadith 221
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُجَالِدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ بَيَانٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: عُرِضْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، فَأَلْقَى جَرِيرٌ رِدَاءَهُ وَمَشَى فِي إِزَارٍ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: خُذْ رِدَاءَكَ. فَقَالَ عُمَرُ لِلْقَوْمِ: «مَا رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا أَحْسَنَ صُورَةً مِنْ جَرِيرٍ إِلَّا مَا بَلَغَنَا مِنْ صُورَةِ يُوسُفَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ»
Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was presented before Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) for inspection. Jarir removed his upper garment and began to walk in his lower garment, so (Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him) said: Hold onto your garment. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) turned towards the people and said: I have not seen anyone more handsome than Jarir except for the appearance of Yusuf (peace be upon him), as we have come to know about him.
