Umm Sulaym’s expression of love
Hadith 213
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ابْنِ ابْنَةِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ وَقِرْبَةٌ مُعَلَّقَةٌ فَشَرِبَ مِنْ فَمِ الْقِرْبَةِ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ، فَقَامَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ إِلَى رَأْسِ الْقِرْبَةِ فَقَطَعَتْهَا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her), and there was a waterskin hanging there. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank water from the mouth of the waterskin while standing. Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) got up and cut off the mouth of the waterskin (and kept it with her).
