What to say if Bismillah is forgotten
Hadith 188
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوائِيُّ، عَنْ بُدَيْلٍ الْعُقَيْلِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَنَسِيَ أَنْ يَذْكُرَ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى عَلَى طَعَامِهِ فَلْيَقُلْ: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ "
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you begins to eat and forgets to mention the name of Allah, then he should recite «بسم الله أوله وآخره», that is, 'In the beginning and at the end of this food, I take the name of Allah.'"
