Licking fingers after eating
Hadith 136
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ ابْنٍ لِكَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَلْعَقُ أَصَابِعَهُ ثَلَاثًا» قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: " وَرَوَى غَيْرُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَشَّارٍ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ: يَلْعَقُ أَصَابِعَهُ الثَّلَاثَ "
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), after eating food, used to lick his fingers three times. Imam Abu Isa al-Tirmidhi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that everyone who narrated this hadith, except Muhammad bin Bashar, said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lick his three fingers.
Hadith 137
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْخَلَّالُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: «كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَكَلَ طَعَامًا لَعِقَ أَصَابِعَهُ الثَّلَاثَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: When the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, finished eating food, he would lick his three fingers.
