Starting virtuous acts from the right side
Hadith 83
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا انْتَعَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالْيَمِينِ، وَإِذَا نَزَعَ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالشِّمَالِ، فَلْتَكُنِ الْيَمِينُ أَوَّلَهُمَا تُنْعَلُ وَآخِرَهُمَا تُنْزَعُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When any of you puts on shoes, he should start with the right side, and when he takes them off, he should start with the left side. In wearing, the right foot should be first, and in removing, the right foot should be last."
Hadith 84
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَشْعَثُ هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ : «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحِبُّ التَّيَمُّنَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ فِي تَرَجُّلِهِ وَتَنَعُّلِهِ وَطُهُورِهِ»
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) liked very much to start from the right side as much as possible when combing his hair, putting on his shoes, and performing ablution.
