Dihya al-Kalbi Sent a Gift to the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 73
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ: «أَهْدَى دِحْيَةُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خُفَّيْنِ، فَلَبِسَهُمَا» . وَقَالَ إِسْرَائِيلُ: عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ «وَجُبَّةً فَلَبِسَهُمَا حَتَّى تَخَرَّقَا» لَا يَدْرِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَذِكًى هُمَا أَمْ لَا. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: " وَأَبُو إِسْحَاقَ هَذَا هُوَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، وَاسْمُهُ سُلَيْمَانُ
Sayyiduna Mughira bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that Sayyiduna Dihyah (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) two socks as a gift, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wore them. Isra’il narrated this hadith from Jabir, who narrated from ‘Amir, that he (Dihyah) also sent a cloak along with the socks, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wore them until they became torn. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not know whether they were made from the skin of a slaughtered animal or from that of an unslaughtered one. Imam Abu ‘Isa al-Tirmidhi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: By Abu Ishaq is meant Abu Ishaq Shaybani, and his name is Sulayman.
