Najashi’s Gifts Included Socks
Hadith 72
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ دَلْهَمِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ حُجَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّجَاشِيَّ أَهْدَى لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خُفَّيْنِ أَسْوَدَيْنِ سَاذَجَيْنِ، فَلَبِسَهُمَا ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَيْهِمَا "
Sayyiduna Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Najashi (the King of Abyssinia) sent two black socks as a gift to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace be upon him) wore them, then performed ablution and wiped over them.
