White Clothes Are the Best Garment
Hadith 68
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْبَيَاضِ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ لِيَلْبِسْهَا أَحْيَاؤُكُمْ، وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ، فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Adopt white clothes, those among you who are alive should also wear them, and those who pass away should also be shrouded in white clothes, for they are among your best clothes."
