The Prophet (peace be upon him) Was Neither Tall Nor Short
Hadith 5
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ: «لَمْ يَكُنِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالطَّوِيلِ وَلَا بِالْقَصِيرِ، شَثْنُ الْكَفَّيْنِ وَالْقَدَمَيْنِ، ضَخْمُ الرَّأْسِ، ضَخْمُ الْكَرَادِيسِ، طَوِيلُ الْمَسْرُبَةِ، إِذَا مَشَى تَكَفَّأَ تَكَفُّؤًا كَأَنَّمَا يَنْحَطُّ مِنْ صَبَبٍ، لَمْ أَرَ قَبْلَهُ وَلَا بَعْدَهُ مِثْلَهُ ، صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ» .
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was neither tall nor short. His palms and feet were full of flesh. The blessed head of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was very strong and the joints of his bones were broad. There was a long line of hair between his chest and navel. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) walked, he leaned forward as if descending a slope. I have not seen anyone like him (peace and blessings be upon him) either before his passing or after.
