Dealing kindly with bad people
Hadith 349
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتِ: اسْتَأْذَنَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا عِنْدَهُ، فَقَالَ: «بِئْسَ ابْنُ الْعَشِيرَةِ» أَوْ «أَخُو الْعَشِيرَةِ» ، ثُمَّ أَذِنَ لَهُ، فَأَلَانَ لَهُ الْقَوْلَ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، قُلْتَ مَا قُلْتَ ثُمَّ أَلَنْتَ لَهُ الْقَوْلَ؟ فَقَالَ: «يَا عَائِشَةُ، إِنَّ مِنْ شَرِّ النَّاسِ مَنْ تَرَكَهُ النَّاسُ أَوْ وَدَعَهُ النَّاسُ اتِّقَاءَ فُحْشِهِ»
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a man sought permission to enter upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I was with him at that time. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(He is) a bad son or brother of his tribe and family." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him permission to enter and spoke to him gently. When he left, I said: You spoke about him in such a manner, yet you spoke to him gently? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Aisha! The worst person is the one whom people abandon or leave in order to avoid his evil."
