How to face unpleasant matters
Hadith 345
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَأَحَمْدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ هُوَ الضَّبِّيُّ وَالْمَعْنَى وَاحِدٌ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ سَلْمٍ الْعَلَوِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ رَجُلٌ بِهِ أَثَرُ صُفْرَةٍ قَالَ: وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يكَادُ يُواجِهُ أَحَدًا بِشَيْءٍ يَكْرَهُهُ، فَلَمَّا قَامَ قَالَ لِلْقَوْمِ: «لَوْ قُلْتُمْ لَهُ يَدَعُ هَذِهِ الصُّفْرَةَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that he relates from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that a man came and sat near the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, whose clothes had a yellow stain. The narrator says that the noble habit of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was such that he would not forbid anything unpleasant directly to someone's face, so when that man left, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to the people: "If only you had told him to stop applying the yellow color."
