Hadith 324

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) had a daughter who was near death. He took her and lifted her into his lap, and in that state she passed away while she was in his hands. Umm Ayman began to cry out loudly, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are you crying in the presence of the Messenger of Allah?" She replied: "Do I not see you weeping?" He said: "I am not weeping; these are tears of mercy. Indeed, the believer is always in a state of goodness; even when his soul departs from his side, at that moment he praises Allah, the Exalted."
