Crying when listening to Quran
Hadith 322
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اقْرَأْ عَلَيَّ» فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَقَرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ قَالَ: «إِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْمَعَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي» ، فَقَرَأْتُ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ، حَتَّى بَلَغْتُ {وَجِئِنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا} [النساء: 41] قَالَ: فَرَأَيْتُ عَيْنَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ تَهْمِلَانِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded me to recite the Qur’an to him. I said: O Messenger of Allah! The Qur’an has been revealed to you, so should I recite it to you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Yes, I like to hear it from someone else.” (Ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, says) I began to recite Surah An-Nisa, and when I reached «وجئنا بك على هؤلاء شهيدا», I saw that tears were flowing from both eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
