باب صلاة الضحىChapter: The Duha Prayer
Long recitation in four rak‘ahs before Dhuhr
Hadith 295
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ يَحْيَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، عَنْ مِسْعَرِ بْنِ كِدَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، أَنَّهُ «كَانَ يُصَلِّي قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ أَرْبَعًا، وَذَكَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّيهَا عِنْدَ الزَّوَالِ وَيَمُدُّ فِيهَا»
Asim bin Damrah narrates that Sayyiduna Ali al-Murtaza (may Allah be pleased with him) used to perform four rak'ahs before the Zuhr prayer, and he mentioned that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also used to perform them at the time of decline (zawal), and he would recite at length in them.
