Companions followed the Prophet in sword making
Hadith 107
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ الْحَدَّادُ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ: «صَنَعْتُ سَيْفِي عَلَى سَيْفِ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ، وَزَعَمَ سَمُرَةُ أَنَّهُ صَنَعَ سَيْفَهُ عَلَى سَيْفِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَ حَنَفِيًّا»
Imam Ibn Sirin, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I made my sword according to the sword of Samurah bin Jundub, and Samurah believes that he made his sword according to the sword of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the sword of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was like the sword of the tribe of Banu Hanifah.
