(411) بَابُ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ الْحَجَّ الْوَاجِبَ مِنْ جَمِيعِ الْمَالِ لَا مِنَ الثُّلُثِ
Evidence that obligatory Hajj expenses come from the entire estate, not just one-third.
Hadith 3042
حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ ، عَنِ الشَّافِعِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ سَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَقَالَ : قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : هَكَذَا حَفِظْتُهُ مِنَ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، مِثْلَهُ وَزَادَ : فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهُ ذَلِكَ ؟ فَقَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، كَمَا لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتِيهِ ، نَفَعَهُ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and then the complete hadith was narrated. In the narration of Janab Sulaiman bin Yasar, there is this addition that the woman asked, "O Messenger of Allah, will my performing Hajj on his behalf benefit him?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, just as if he had a debt and you paid it off, it would benefit him."
