Hadith 2983
I had pitched the tent of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in the valley of Abtah, and he had not ordered me to pitch the tent. He simply came and settled in the tent. That is, he had not ordered me to pitch the tent at that place. Abu Rafi’ does not mean that the Prophet (peace be upon him) stayed in the valley of Abtah because the tent was pitched there.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to depart from Mina, he said: "Tomorrow, if Allah wills, we will stay at Khayf Bani Kinana, where they had sworn mutual oaths of unity upon disbelief." By this, he meant the valley of Muhassab. Then the rest of the narration is mentioned similar to the previous narration. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the question to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding where he would stay in Makkah the next day during his Hajj—this narration has been reported by Imam Zuhri from Abu Salamah from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). Whereas, at the end of this narration, the incident mentioned that no Muslim will inherit from a disbeliever, nor will any disbeliever inherit from a Muslim, is narrated in the report of Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) through Ali bin Husayn from Amr bin Uthman. In my opinion, the narrator Mu'ammar made a mistake and combined these incidents with this chain. I have explained the reason for the narration in Kitab al-Kabir.

Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that during the Farewell Pilgrimage, I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, where will you stay in Makkah tomorrow?" He replied, "Has Aqeel left any house for us?" Then he said, "We will stay tomorrow at Khaif Bani Kinana, where the Quraysh had sworn oaths of unity upon disbelief. And that was when Banu Kinana and Quraysh made a pact against Banu Hashim that they would neither marry with them, nor buy or sell with them, nor give them shelter." Imam Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Khaif is a valley. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "No disbeliever can inherit from a Muslim, nor can a Muslim inherit from a disbeliever."

Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I pitched the tent of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the valley of Abtah. He had not ordered me to settle in the valley of Abtah, then he came and stayed in that tent. This narration is from Janab Nasr, and in the narration of Janab Ali bin Khushram, Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says that he had not ordered me to settle in the valley of Abtah, rather I came on my own and pitched his tent. Then he also came and stayed in the tent. In the narration of Janab Abdul Jabbar, it is mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had not ordered me to pitch the tent, rather I myself pitched the tent of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the valley of Abtah, so he came and stayed in it. Janab Abdul Jabbar has added these words in his narration: and Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) was the caretaker of his belongings, and when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came from Madinah Munawwarah, he stayed at the upper side of Makkah Mukarramah. Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) himself narrates that when I came to the valley of Abtah, I pitched his tent, then he also came and stayed in it.
