Hadith 2974
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned after performing ‘Umrah from the place of Ji‘ranah, having donned the Ihram, he sent Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) as the leader. So we set out under his leadership until, when we reached the place of ‘Arj, the call to the morning prayer was given. Then, when he stood straight to say the Takbir, he heard the gurgling of a camel behind him, so he refrained from saying the Takbir. Then the complete hadith was narrated, and it is mentioned: Then, when the first day of departure came, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stood and delivered a sermon to the people, informing them about the matters of departure and stoning (Rami), and taught them the rites of Hajj. When he finished the sermon, Sayyiduna ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) stood and recited the entire Surah al-Bara’ah to the people (in which there were commands regarding the declaration of disassociation from the polytheists and the prohibition of their performing Hajj, etc.).
