Hadith 2837
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed at Arafat, then after sunset he returned (to Muzdalifah). He had Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them both) riding behind him. Muhammad bin Ishaq narrates that the narration of Ja'far bin Muhammad from his father from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) is also related to this chapter.

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that in the days of ignorance, people used to stay at Arafat until the sun would be on the tops of the mountains in such a way as turbans are on the heads of men, then they would return to Muzdalifah. Then they would stay at Muzdalifah until the sun would rise and be on the tops of the mountains like turbans on the heads of men, then they would return (to Mina). Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the departure from Arafat until sunset, then performed the morning prayer at Muzdalifah when dawn had broken, then departed for Mina in the last part before sunrise when everything had become bright. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I declare my disassociation from the responsibility of the narrator Zam’ah bin Salih.
