(249) بَابُ رَفْعِ الْيَدَيْنِ فِي الدُّعَاءِ عِنْدَ الْوُقُوفِ بِعَرَفَةَ، وَإِبَاحَةِ رَفْعِ إِحْدَى الْيَدَيْنِ إِذَا احْتَاجَ الرَّاكِبُ إِلَى حِفْظِ الْعِنَانِ أَوِ الْخِطَامِ بِإِحْدَى الْيَدَيْنِ.
Chapter: Raising hands in supplication while standing at ‘Arafah, and permission to raise only one hand if needed
Hadith 2824
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أنا عَبْدُ الْمَلَكِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَطَاءٌ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ : " كُنْتُ رِدْفَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَفَاتٍ ، فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فَمَالَتْ بِهِ نَاقَتُهُ فَسَقَطَ خِطَامُهَا ، فَتَنَاوَلَ الْخِطَامُ بِإِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ ، وَهُوَ رَافِعُ يَدَهُ الأُخْرَى "
Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on a camel in Arafat. When he raised both his hands for supplication, his camel tilted him to one side, causing its rein to fall. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) took the rein in one hand and raised the other hand for supplication.
Hadith 2825
ثَنَاهُ يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلَكِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " أَفَاضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ عَرَفَاتٍ ، وَرِدْفُهُ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : فَمَالَتْ بِهِ النَّاقَةُ وَهُوَ رَافِعٌ يَدَيْهِ مَا تُجَاوِزَانِ رَأْسَهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى جَمْعٍ ، وَأَفَاضَ مِنْ جَمْعٍ ، وَرِدْفُهُ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَقَالَ الْفَضْلُ : مَا زَالَ يُلَبِّي حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ "
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) returned from Arafat and seated Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) behind him (on the mount). His she-camel tilted him to one side while he had both hands raised in supplication, but they were not raised above his head, until he reached Muzdalifah. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) departed from Muzdalifah, Sayyiduna Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was seated behind him. Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace be upon him) continued to recite the Talbiyah until he stoned Jamrah Aqabah.
