(244) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْبَيَانِ أَنَّ الْوُقُوفَ بِعَرَفَةَ مِنْ سُنَّةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَأَنَّهُ إِرْثٌ عَنْهُ، وَرَّثَهَا أُمَّةَ مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Chapter: Explanation that standing at ‘Arafah is from the Sunnah of Ibrahim and inherited by the Ummah of Muhammad
Hadith 2818
ثنا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : حَفِظْتُهُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ وَهُوَ أَخْوَالُهُ ، قَالَ : " أَتَانَا ابْنُ مِرْبَعٍ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، وَنَحْنُ وُقُوفٌ بِعَرَفَةَ خَلْفَ الْمَوْقِفِ مَوْضِعٍ يَبْعُدُهُ عَمْرٌو عَنِ الْمَوْقِفِ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي رَسُولُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ "
Hazrat Yazid bin Shaiban narrates that Sayyiduna Ibn Murabba’ Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us while we were staying behind the place of standing in the valley of Arafat. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) considered this place to be far from the Imam’s place of standing. So he (Ibn Murabba’) said: I am a messenger to you from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 2819
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَمَّارٍ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو وَهُوَ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ , عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ شِهَابٍ ، وَقَالَ أَبُو عَمَّارٍ , قَالَ : وَأَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا وُقُوفًا مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْمَوْقِفِ مَوْقِفًا يَتَبَاعَدُهُ عَمْرُو مِنَ الإِمَامِ ، فَأَتَانَا ابْنُ مِرْبَعٍ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي رَسُولُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ ، يَقُولُ لَكُمْ : " كُونُوا عَلَى مَشَاعِرِكُمْ هَذِهِ ، فَإِنَّكُمْ عَلَى إِرْثٍ مِنْ إِرْثِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ " ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ أَبَا عَمَّارٍ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا وُقُوفًا وَمَكَانًا بَعِيدًا خَلْفَ الْمَوْقِفِ ، فَأَتَانَا ابْنُ مِرْبَعٍ
Hazrat Yazid bin Shaiban narrates that we were standing behind the place of standing (Mauqif), and according to Hazrat Amr, this place was very far from the Imam's place of standing. Then Ibn Murabba’ Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us and said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commands you to stay at your places marked by your signs, for you are upon one of the inheritances from the legacy of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)." In another narration, Hazrat Abu Ammar narrates that we were staying at a place far from the Mauqif, then our master Ibn Murabba’ Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us.
