(231) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْعِلَّةِ الَّتِي سُمِّيَتْ لَهَا عَرَفَةُ
Chapter: Reason why ‘Arafah was named so
Hadith Q2804
عَرَفَةَ مَعَ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ قَدْ أَرَى النَّبِيَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَنَاسِكَ كَمَا أَرَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلَ الرَّحْمَنِ.
And the explanation of the evidence that Jibreel (peace be upon him) taught Muhammad (peace be upon him) the rites of Hajj and showed him the places of Hajj just as he had shown them to Ibrahim (peace be upon him).
Hadith 2804
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : أَتَى جِبْرِيلُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ يُرِيهِ الْمَنَاسِكَ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِطُولِهِ ، وَقَالَ : " ثُمَّ دَفَعَ بِهِ حَتَّى رَمَى الْجَمْرَةَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : أَعْرِفِ الآنَ ، وَأَرَاهُ الْمَنَاسِكَ كُلَّهَا ، وَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to teach him the rites of Hajj. Then he narrated the complete hadith. And he said that then he took Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to Mina, until when he had stoned the Jamrah, he said to him: Now recognize these rites well. And he showed Ibrahim (peace be upon him) all the rites. In the same way, he showed and taught all the rites to the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as well.
