(218) بَابُ إِبَاحَةِ وَطْءِ الْمُتَمَتِّعِ النِّسَاءَ مَا بَيْنَ الْإِحْلَالِ مِنَ الْعُمْرَةِ إِلَى الْإِحْرَامِ بِالْحَجِّ، وَإِنْ كَانَ بَيْنَهُمَا قَرِيبٌ
Chapter: Permissibility for the mutamatti‘ to have intercourse between ending ‘Umrah and starting Hajj, even if the interval is short
Hadith 2786
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ عَطَاءٌ : قَالَ جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ : قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَبِيحَةَ رَابِعٍ مَضَتْ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا أَمَرْنَا أَنْ نَحِلَّ ، فَقَالَ : " أَحِلُّوا ، وَأَصِيبُوا النِّسَاءَ " ، قَالَ عَطَاءٌ : قَالَ جَابِرٌ : وَلَمْ يَعْزِمْ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يُصِيبُوا النِّسَاءَ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ أَحَلَّهُ لَهُمْ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Makkah Mukarramah on the morning of the fourth of Dhul-Hijjah. Then when we reached Makkah Mukarramah, he ordered us to perform ‘Umrah and then come out of Ihram. And he said: “Come out of Ihram and you may have intercourse with your wives.” Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Prophet did not make intercourse with wives obligatory upon the companions, but he made it permissible for them (that if they felt the need, they could fulfill their desire).
