(205) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْبَيَانِ أَنَّ السَّعْيَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَاجِبٌ، لَا أَنَّهُ مُبَاحٌ غَيْرُ وَاجِبٍ

Hadith 2764
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَطَاءِ بْنِ مَقْدَمٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْخَلِيلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ نُبَيْهٍ ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهَا بِنْتِ أَبِي تَجْزَأَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَتْ لَنَا خِلْفَةً فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، قَالَتِ : اطَّلَعْتُ مِنْ كَوَّةٍ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، فَأَشْرَفْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَإِذَا هُوَ يَسْعَى ، وَإِذَا هُوَ يَقُولُ لأَصْحَابِهِ : " اسْعَوْا ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّعْيَ " ، فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ مِنْ شِدَّةِ السَّعْيِ يَدُورُ الإِزَارُ حَوْلَ بَطْنِهِ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ بَيَاضَ بَطْنِهِ ، وَفَخِذَيْهِ "
Hazrat Habibah bint Abu Tujrah narrates that in the days of ignorance, we had a window (which opened towards Safa and Marwah). She says that I looked through the ventilator between Safa and Marwah, and my eyes fell upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) while he was running, and he was saying to his noble companions: "Run, for Allah Almighty has made running (at this place) obligatory upon you." Indeed, I saw that due to the speed, his lower garment was turning around his blessed stomach, until I saw the whiteness of his stomach and thigh.
لِقَوْلِهِ [تَعَالَى]: فَمَنْ حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ أَوِ اعْتَمَرَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا [الْبَقَرَةِ: 158]. وَالدَّلِيلُ عَلَى أَنَّ قَوْلَهُ: فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا. لَيْسَ فِي الْمَعْنَى كَقَوْلِهِ: فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَقْصُرُوا مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ [النِّسَاءِ: 101]
For His saying [تَعَالَى]: "So whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs Umrah, there is no blame upon him to walk between them" [الْبَقَرَةِ: 158].
And the evidence that His saying: "there is no blame upon him to walk between them" is not in meaning like His saying: "there is no blame upon you to shorten the prayer" [النِّسَاءِ: 101].
And the evidence that His saying: "there is no blame upon him to walk between them" is not in meaning like His saying: "there is no blame upon you to shorten the prayer" [النِّسَاءِ: 101].
Hadith 2764

Hadith 2765
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ وَاصِلٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَخْبَرَتْهَا : أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ يَقُولُ : " كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّعْيُ ، فَاسْعَوْا " ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : هَذِهِ الْمَرْأَةُ الَّتِي لَمْ تُسَمَّ فِي هَذَا الْخَبَرِ : حَبِيبَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي تَجْزَأَةَ
Hazrat Safiyyah bint Shaybah narrates that a woman told her that she heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say between Safa and Marwah: "(Believers) Running (Sa'i) has been made obligatory upon you, so you should run." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the name of the woman not mentioned in this narration is Habibah bint Abi Tijarah.
