(204) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْخَبَرِ الْمُفَسِّرِ لِلَّفْظَةِ الْمُجْمَلَةِ الَّتِي ذَكَرْتُ أَنَّ لَفْظَهَا عَامٌّ مُرَادُهَا خَاصٌّ،
Chapter: Clarification of the general term regarding sa‘i between Safa and Marwa
Hadith
وَالدَّلِيلُ [عَلَى] أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّمَا سَعَى مِمَّا بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ بِبَطْنِ الْمَسِيلِ دُونَ سَائِرِ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا، لَا أَنَّهُ سَعَى جَمِيعَ مَا بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ
And the explanation of the evidence that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) only ran in the low part of the valley during the Sa’i between Safa and Marwah, and not that he ran the entire distance between Safa and Marwah.
Hadith 2761
Imam Abu Bakr, may Allah have mercy on him, says that in the narration of Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, which I have mentioned earlier, it is stated: When the Prophet's feet reached the lower part of the valley, he started running, and then when he began to ascend, he walked at a normal pace.
Hadith 2762
وحَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ وَاقِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْعَى بِبَطْنِ الْمَسِيلِ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ "
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to run in the dip of the valley between Safa and Marwah.
Hadith 2763
قَرَأْتُ عَلَى أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي سُرَيْجٍ الرَّازِيُّ ، أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ مُجَمِّعٍ ، أَخْبَرَهُمْ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا اسْتَوَتْ بِهِ رَاحِلَتُهُ عِنْدَ مَسْجِدِ ذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ فِي حَجَّةٍ أَوْ عُمْرَةٍ أَهَلَّ " فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَقَالَ : " ثُمَّ أَتَى الصَّفَا ، فَسَعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ سَبْعًا ، فَإِذَا مَرَّ بِالْمَسْعَى سَعَى "
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that when the mount of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would bring him straight to the mosque of Dhul-Hulaifah during his journey for Hajj or Umrah, he would recite the Talbiyah. Then he narrated the rest of the hadith and said: Then he came towards the hill of Safa and performed Sa’i between Safa and Marwah. When he passed through the place of running, he ran.
