Hadith Q2741
مَا تَأَوَّلْتُ قَوْلَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَالْبَيَانُ أَنَّ بَعْضَ الْحِجْرِ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ لَا جَمِيعِهِ
Statement of the evidence for its authenticity and the explanation that not the entire portion of Hatim is part of the House of Allah, but rather only some of Hatim is part of the House of Allah.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Ubaid narrates that during the reign of Abdul Malik bin Marwan, Harith bin Abdullah went to him as an envoy. Abdul Malik said, "I think that Abu Khubaib, i.e., Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him), did not hear that hadith from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) which he claims to have heard." Harith said, "Why not, I too have heard that hadith from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her)." Abdul Malik asked, "What did you hear Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) say?" Harith said, "Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Indeed, your people have reduced the foundations of the House (Ka'bah), and if they had not just recently left shirk and become Muslims, I would have included that part in the foundations of the House which they had left out. Therefore, if after me your people wish to build the House (on its original foundations), then come, I will show you the part which they had left out.' So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) showed Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) a space of about sixty cubits (which was not included in the Ka'bah and is called Hatim or Hijr)." This narration is from Abdullah bin Ubaid. Walid bin Ata has added that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I would have made two doors of the House at ground level, one on the eastern side and the other on the western side. Do you know why your people kept the door of the House elevated?" I said, "No." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Out of pride and arrogance, so that only the person whom they allowed could enter the Sacred House. And when a person whom they disliked tried to enter by climbing up, they would let him climb, and when he was about to enter the House, they would push him and make him fall." Abdul Malik asked Harith, "Did you yourself hear Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrate this hadith?" He replied, "Yes, I heard it." Upon this, Abdul Malik lowered his head and scratched the ground for a while, then said, "I wish I had left the House (Ka'bah) on the foundations built by Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both), and left the responsibility of rebuilding the House to those who had taken it upon themselves." The wording of all the narrators is the same, only in Muhammad's narration the wording is different. Walid bin Ata bin Janab narrates that Harith said, "I heard this hadith from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her)." Harith was one who confirmed this hadith, not one who denied or rejected it. Abdul Malik asked, "What did you hear Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) say?" Harith replied, "I heard her saying that the Messenger of Allah said, and he said: 'I would have made two doors for it.' And he said: 'They would let that person climb up.'"
