(161) بَابُ الِاضْطِبَاعِ بِالرِّدَاءِ عِنْدَ طَوَافِ الْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ أَوْ أَحَدِهِمَا
Chapter: Exposing the right shoulder (idtiba‘) during tawaf of Hajj and ‘Umrah or either
Hadith 2707
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , فِي حَدِيثٍ طَوِيلٍ قَالَ : " فَاضْطَبَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابَهُ وَرَمَلُوا ثَلاثَةَ أَطْوَافٍ ، وَمَشَوْا أَرْبَعَةً "
A long hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), he says that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and his noble companions performed idtiba‘ (placing the upper garment under the right arm and over the left shoulder), and they performed ramal (brisk walking) in the first three circuits of tawaf, and walked at a normal pace in the remaining four.
