101 Subchapter: Evidence that raising the voice with the intention is among the best deeds
Hadith 2631
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ : أَيُّ الأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ : " الْعَجُّ وَالثَّجُّ " ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : الْعَجُّ : رَفْعُ الصَّوْتِ بِالتَّلْبِيَةِ ، وَالثَّجُّ : نَحْرُ الْبُدْنِ ، وَالدَّمُ مِنَ الْمَنْحَرِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "Which deed is the best?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Raising the voice in Talbiyah and offering sacrifice." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that "al-'ajj" means raising the voice in Talbiyah, and "ath-thajj" means slaughtering the camel and shedding its blood.
