Hadith 2571
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey, when the time of dawn appeared, he would supplicate: « سَمِـعَ سـامِعٌ بِحَمْـدِ اللهِ وَحُسْـنِ بَلائِـهِ عَلَيْـنا ، رَبَّنـا صـاحِبْـنا وَأَفْـضِل عَلَيْـنا سِتْراً باللهِ مِنَ النّـار » “The Hearer has heard the praise and glorification of Allah, the thanks for His blessing, and the acknowledgment of His grace and bounty upon us. O our Lord, be our companion (in our journey) and bestow Your grace and bounty upon us. I seek refuge in Allah from the fire of Hell.” He would recite these supplicatory words in a loud voice three times. In the narration of Abu Hazim, it is mentioned: “and the acknowledgment of His generosity.” He would recite these words three times. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Abdullah bin Amir, the narrator, does not meet the condition of our book, but since I have also narrated this report from Sulaiman bin Bilal and Suhail bin Abi Salih (who do meet the condition), therefore, the narration of Abdullah bin Amir has also been included along with their narration.
