(181) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ أَجْرَ الصَّدَقَةِ الْمُحْبَسَةِ يُكْتَبُ لِلْمُحْبِسِ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ مَا دَامَتِ الصَّدَقَةُ جَارِيَةً
181 Subchapter: The reward of endowment charity continues for the endower after death as long as it remains
Hadith 2494
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ السَّعْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلاءُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا مَاتَ الإِنْسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عَمَلُهُ إِلا مِنْ ثَلاثٍ : صَدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ ، أَوْ عَمَلٍ يُنْتَفَعُ بِهِ ، أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَالِحٍ يَدْعُو لَهُ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: ongoing charity, knowledge from which people benefit, or a righteous child who prays for him."
Hadith 2495
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ النَّسَائِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يَزِيدَ بْنِ سِنَانٍ الرَّهَاوِيَّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي أَبَاهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ فُلَيْحِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " خَيْرُ مَا يَخْلُفُ الْمَرْءُ بَعْدَهُ ثَلاثًا : وَلَدًا صَالِحًا يَدْعُو لَهُ فَيَبْلُغُهُ دُعَاؤُهُ ، أَوْ صَدَقَةً تَجْرِي فَيَبْلُغُهُ أَجْرُهَا ، أَوْ عِلْمًا يُعْمَلُ بِهِ بَعْدَهُ "
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The best things that a person leaves behind are three: a righteous child who prays for him, so his prayers reach him; or ongoing charity that he leaves behind, so its reward continues to reach him; or beneficial knowledge that he leaves behind, upon which people act (so he continues to receive its reward)."
