(144) بَابُ تَشْبِيهِ الْمُلْحِفِ بِمَنْ يَسِفُّ الْمَسْأَلَةَ
144 Subchapter: Comparing persistent beggars to one who eats dust
Hadith 2448
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ شَابُورَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " مَنْ سَأَلَ وَلَهُ أَرْبَعُونَ دِرْهَمًا ، فَهُوَ مُلْحِفٌ وَهُوَ مِثْلُ سَفِّ الْمَسْأَلَةِ " ، يَعْنِي : الرَّمَلَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever begs while he possesses forty dirhams is a clinging beggar. His example is like that of a person who eats sand."
