(122) بَابُ إِخْرَاجِ التَّمْرِ وَالشَّعِيرِ فِي صَدَقَةِ الْفِطْرِ
122 Subchapter: Giving dates and barley as zakat al-fitr
Hadith 2409
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِصَدَقَةِ الْفِطْرِ عَنْ كُلِّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ ، حُرٍّ أَوْ عَبْدٍ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ ، أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ ، فَعَدَلَ النَّاسُ بَعْدُ بِمُدَّيْنِ مِنْ بُرٍّ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded that Sadaqat al-Fitr should be given as one sa’ of barley or one sa’ of dates on behalf of every young and old, free and slave. Then the people considered two mudd (half a sa’) of wheat to be equal in value to one sa’ of barley and the like.
Hadith 2410
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ بَكْرٍ الْكُوفِيِّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ وَائِلِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ ، أَنَّ الزَّهْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَهُمْ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ الصُّعَيْرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، " أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَامَ خَطِيبًا ، فَأَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةِ الْفِطْرِ صَاعَ تَمْرٍ ، أَوْ صَاعَ شَعِيرٍ عَنْ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ ، أَوْ عَنْ كُلِّ رَأْسٍ ، عَنِ الصَّغِيرِ وَالْكَبِيرِ ، وَالْحُرِّ وَالْعَبْدِ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Tha‘labah bin Sa‘eer (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood to deliver the sermon, he commanded that a sa‘ (measure) of dates or a sa‘ of barley be given as Sadaqat al-Fitr on behalf of every small and great, free and slave person.
