It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made obligatory the Sadaqat al-Fitr of one sa’ of dates or one sa’ of barley upon all Muslim people in Ramadan. (Barley) shall be given by every free person, slave, man, and woman.

It is narrated from Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, in a similar manner as mentioned above. Instead of "fi Ramadan," the words "min Ramadan" are used. And the words "male" and "female" are mentioned.
