(102) بَابُ فَضْلِ الصَّدَقَةِ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ الْكَاشِحِ
102 Subchapter: Virtue of giving charity to a hostile relative
Hadith 2386
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومِ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : وَكَانَتْ قَدْ صَلَّتْ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقِبْلَتَيْنِ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ الْكَاشِحِ "
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her). Imam Sufyan says that Sayyidah Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her) performed prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) facing both Qiblahs. She states that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best charity is that which is given to a relative who harbors enmity and hatred."
