(98) بَابُ حَمْلِ الصَّدَقَةِ مِنَ الْمُدُنِ إِلَى الْإِمَامِ لِيَتَوَلَّى تَفْرِقَتَهَا عَلَى أَهْلِ الصَّدَقَةِ
98 Subchapter: Bringing charity from cities to the ruler so he distributes it to those entitled
Hadith 2382
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ذَكْوَانَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ عَلَى زَكَاتِهَا فَجَاءَ بِسَوَادٍ كَثِيرٍ ، فَإِذَا أَرْسَلْتُ إِلَيْهِ مَنْ يَتَوَفَّاهُ مِنْهُ ، قَالَ : هَذَا لِي وَهَذَا لَكُمْ ، فَإِنْ سُئِلَ مِنْ أَيْنَ لَكَ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ : أُهْدِيَ لِي فَهَلا إِنْ كَانَ صَادِقًا أُهْدِيَ لَهُ ، وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِ أَبِيهِ أَوْ أُمِّهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " لا أَبْعَثُ رَجُلا عَلَى عَمَلٍ فَيَغْتَلُّ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا إِلا جَاءَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَةِ بَعِيرٍ لَهُ رُغَاءٌ ، أَوْ بَقَرَةٍ تَخُورُ ، أَوْ شَاةٍ تَيْعَرُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ " ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ لأَبِي حُمَيْدٍ : أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ
Sayyiduna Abu Humayd As-Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent a man from Yemen to collect the zakat of the people of Yemen, and he brought back a large amount of wealth. Then, when you sent a man to take account from him, he said, “This is my wealth and this is yours.” Then, if he is asked, “Where did you get this wealth from?” he says, “I was given it as a gift.” If he is truthful, then why was he not given this gift when he was sitting at his father’s or mother’s house? Then the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever I send for any work, and then he commits treachery in it, he will come on the Day of Resurrection carrying that stolen property on his neck. If it is a camel, it will be groaning; if it is a cow, it will be mooing; if it is a goat, it will be bleating.” Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “O Allah, I have conveyed the message.” Upon hearing this, Ibn Zubair said to Abu Humayd As-Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him), “Did you hear this statement yourself from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)?” He replied, “Yes.”
