Hadith 2311
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunaif (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that some people used to hang their bad and inferior fruits (in Masjid Nabawi), so Allah the Exalted revealed this verse « وَلَا تَيَمَّمُوا الْخَبِيثَ مِنْهُ تُنفِقُونَ وَلَسْتُم بِآخِذِيهِ إِلَّا أَن تُغْمِضُوا فِيهِ » "And do not intend to spend (in the way of Allah) the bad and inferior things, which you yourselves would not take except with closed eyes." [ سورة البقرة : 267 ] So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade giving two types of dates, Ja‘rur and Habīq, in zakat and charity (because these are inferior types).
Hadith 2312
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunaif (may Allah be pleased with him), in the explanation of Allah Almighty’s statement « وَلَا تَيَمَّمُوا الْخَبِيثَ مِنْهُ تُنفِقُونَ » [ سورة البقرة : 267 ], says that these are the Ja‘rur and Habeeq types of dates. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade accepting them as Zakat.

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunaif (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordered the giving of Zakat, a man brought a few bunches of dates whose stones were unripe and soft. Imam Sufyan says, meaning "Shis" (inferior, pulpy dates). So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked: "Who has brought these (worthless and inferior dates)?" And whatever a person would bring, it would be attributed to him, and this verse was revealed « وَلَا تَيَمَّمُوا الْخَبِيثَ مِنْهُ تُنفِقُونَ » [ سورة البقرة : 267 ]. And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade the acceptance of dates of the types Ja‘rur and Habīq in Zakat. Imam Zuhri says that Ja‘rur and Habīq are two types of dates from Madinah Munawwarah.

Sayyiduna Abu Humayd As-Sa'idi رضي الله عنه narrates that we set out with the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم in the year of Tabuk (for the Battle of Tabuk) until we reached Wadi al-Qura. We saw a woman standing in her orchard, so the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said to his companions: "Estimate (the fruit in this orchard)." The companions gave their respective estimates, and the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم estimated it at ten wasqs. Then the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم instructed the woman to count and keep aside the dates obtained from the orchard until I return to you, insha'Allah. (Then inform me.) Then the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم proceeded towards Tabuk, and then he returned, and we also returned with him. Until we reached Wadi al-Qura, he صلى الله عليه وسلم asked the woman: "How many dates did you obtain from your orchard?" She replied that, according to the estimate of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم, ten wasqs of dates were obtained.
