(31) بَابُ سِمَةِ غَنَمِ الصَّدَقَةِ إِذَا قُبِضَتْ
31| Chapter on marking sheep taken for zakat
Hadith 2283
حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ , قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : حِينَ وَلَدَتْ أُمِّي انْطَلَقْتُ بِالصَّبِيِّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيُحَنِّكَهُ ، " فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مِرْبَدٍ لَهُ ، يَسِمُ غَنَمًا " ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : أَكْثَرُ عِلْمِي أَنَّهُ قَالَ : فِي آذَانِهَا
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when my mother gave birth to a child, I took the child to the Noble Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he could chew a date and rub it on the child’s palate. At that time, the Noble Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was marking goats in the camel enclosure. Imam Shu’bah says: I think Hisham said that he was marking the ears of the goats.
